Our Mission
Welcome to Catford Coding Club, a community-run Saturday coding club dedicated to empowering local children with the skills they need to succeed in the digital age.
We strive to provide the best possible experience for every child during their time with us, with a focus on fun, games and self motivation. Our flexible programs allows students to learn at their own pace, and we aim to inspire children to push themselves to the next level.
Join us today and embark on an exciting journey of learning, creativity, and friendship.
Catford Coding Club is a local charity run by volunteers with a passion for community, education and technology. We aim to promote the development and education of young people by providing volunteer led free and affordable coding classes for local children.
Our classes will be hosted on Saturdays in the Youth Room at St Laurence Centre on the Bromley Road .
Our Trustees
We are a volunteer run charity. In addition to our trustees we have a fantastic team of coding volunteers.
Our classes
Our goal is to make coding accessible by providing a variety of free and affordable classes for local children (aged 7 to 15) with no equipment needed.
Children will use one of our Raspberry Pi 5 computers which are ideal for learning to code. Raspberry Pi's are amazing devices, a low cost single board computer that can do everything a normal computer can do but is about the size of a credit card. Read more here.
Our curriculum will follow the Raspberry Pi Foundation structure. Children can start out learning to code in Scratch before moving onto Python when they are ready. This term we're also running a course using HTML and CSS.
In the past we have also run physical computing classes, programming our Pi's with Python to interface with electrical components such as LEDs, switches., motors and sensors.
If there are other classes you'd like to see or you have any questions or feedback, please get in touch.
